A book my mom wanted me to read

It’s been a bit rough as of late. I’m working through a few things and as always miss the hell out of the world I use to have. The one where Mikey was here, we would talk, fight, laugh, eat, see family and friends but it’s moved on. My mom read a book that she found a bit of peace in and has shared it with a few people. She gave it to me and I have read it. Now as some of you may or may not know the Priory of Sion is very controversial but anything right now that helps my family find a moment of peace I’m up for. As I was reading I did come across this passage that struck a cord in me. It was like the author was describing Mikey. So I would like to share it with all of you. From Inside the Priory of Sion by Robert Howells

“Apart from being used to encode and protect knowledge, art can also have the power to impact upon society by seeding it with ideas both old and new. A good artist is capable of capturing the public imagination, creating and facilitating changes they perceive as coming. Creativity traditionally acts as an expression of the higher self – the divine and true creation that seeks to build upon and update the information that has come before. To the initiate, the space between the simple urge to create and a contrived concept gives rise to the idea of ‘complete art’; that is, art that draws on all sources, not just itself. Like the Renaissance thinker, informed by science, spirituality, politics, history, mythology and psychology, ‘complete art’ should engage and reflect humanity at every level of being. The symbols used in art can be transformative to the individual who looks upon them with the right understanding. At a time when books were hand copied and pictures were limited to church windows and houses of the wealthy, symbolism was recognized as a universal language that had the potential to speak directly to the psyche. Today we are bombarded with visual information in print and electronic media and we are so overwhelmed that our ability to read the depth of a symbol drains from our eyes. We have become unused to having to work at reading and to viewing pictures with our fullest attention and respect. With this our ability to engage with symbols has declined, degrading them to simple icons or signs with no depth of meeting. But symbols have the potential to hold power and can affect us deeply. Symbolism is a language that functions on 3 levels: the archetypal, the personal, and the intentional. As an archetype, a symbol can be used as a psychological tool to communicate often complex ideas by reducing them to simple pictograms. The intended level of meaning is that which the author aimed to convey. This is not always apparent and is prone to cultural and historical influence. The    personal interpretation is the level of meaning that we bring to the symbol when we view it from our stand point.”

As I read this passage I couldn’t help not only say that’s what you did Mikey but give a little chuckle because every since Mikey was little my mom and I called him a Renaissance Man. He would have an idea or though research it, question it, and come to his own understanding of it and then pass it on to everyone he would come in contact with. well just thought of sharing this bit. THANKS to all for the love you share, the support you give and taking time out of your day to here what I have to say. Love Kathy

That is a very deep and inspirational passage. Not only the passage but your ability to stay strong throughout the trials god throws at you is inspiring alone. This has showed me how very alike we all are yet different and hold different interpretations of how life, art, love, and meaning affect a persons outlook on life. Not only that but the ability to spread a message to help everyone understand this. So thank you for sharing this. One love! Maxis

    Stay strong!
If I have gathered anything from him, it would be that a smiles are always still possible.
I have never heard another artist that can bring me to tears, but with a smile on my face. It always strikes deep, and like for many others, he has changed my life and enhanced my perception.
That type of beauty will last forever.
Thank you for keeping his memory and beliefs alive. I must imagine that you are quite a unique being as well, keep it up =]
