Gratitude

I’m grateful for getting to meet him when I did. 3 friends and myself were smoking cigars in downtown St. Pete, FL in summer 2009 getting ready to go see Eyedea & Abilities and Atmosphere at the State Theatre. Suddenly Mr. Larsen himself just walks right by us so we all simultaneously yelled “Eyedea?!” He immediately turned around and looked more than happy to talk to us. He told us he was on his way to soundcheck but he just chilled with us at a table on the sidewalk, not even rushing to leave. After a few minutes of conversation, he admitted that recently he had crashed his mom’s car from lack of sleep (that’s you Kathy 😛 ). The way he explained the situation was pretty hilarious to say the least, whether he was joking with us or it really happened. Needless to say, the show was great and afterwards we caught him again at the bar and he asked us to have a drink with him. Unfortunately we had a 14 year old with us so we had to decline.. wish I would have taken him up on that offer now.

Hi Kathy,
I wanted to let you know that Waleed (C-Rayz Walz) just completed filming the video for his song Blvck Rosaries from his All Blvck Everything album. The first half of the song features his friend Freddie Bunz who is paying tribute to a friend of his who passed on when they were still in their teens. The second half of the song is C-Rayz paying tribute to Mikey, who as you know, he loved VERY much (and still does). C-rayz even mentions you in the song. He may have already sent you the song, but I wanted to let you know that a video was also made, and is in the final stages of editing. I’ll come back and post the link to the video once it’s completed.

Mike accomplished what so many only dream of; he touched the lives of countless people, and continues t do so, even in this next generation. We have 3 kids, and we have passed on to them what a beautiful “man” your son is (2 of them are in the video I will be posting). I use quotes because it’s our feeling that Mike is far more than a mere mortal man, which is why he lives on in so many of us. I too have lost a son, although my son was much younger (barely 8 months), and my heart aches for you in a way I wish I couldn’t relate to. My hope is that you find comfort in all those who remember your son every day and who find something in his words, be it his poetry or his music, that helps them put life into perspective.
I’ll leave you with a quote from Rumi that someone sent to me when my son was called to his next existence, “Do not grieve. Anything you lose comes back around in another form.”

i feel sorta silly expressing you my gratitude for Micheal.. he really saved me from dark times. my father had beat me, i started up drugs, alcohol, started fighting in school, my grades were plummiting, all at the age 16. but, october 31st of 2010 i heard Bottle Dreams and wanted so much more. He taught me so much. He made me mature. He became the backbone in each and every one of my days.. and i figured out i’d never meet him… to this day im grateful from what he saved me from. He helpped me progress. i wish i could’ve told him thank you.. i’ve made shirts and even have a bought one, i’ve also made a photoshop tribute. we all miss him and understand you miss him the most Kathy.. keep that pretty head of yours up.
